As we leave Cerros Ruins quickly we continue our drive making a quick stop to Orchid Bay Belize. I’m still not over the weird feeling of Cerros and how we were attacked by all the bugs. I can still feel them crawling all over me. But as we drive I try to push that out of my head. After all we were in one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.
More driving and more blue skies. With the windows rolled down and enjoying the breeze we actually arrived at Orchid Bay Resort. At first we were kind of skeptical as this is a resort we may not be allowed to enter the grounds to look around. But again Belize did not disappoint and the guard at the gate allowed us to enter.
There is a small white sandy beach here. We get out of the car and walk around the beach. I take a bunch of pictures of the beautiful view of the water and its surroundings. There are not many people out and about. But as we are still dealing with Omicron and not many people are traveling it would explain why a resort would not be busy during tourist season.
We spent a little time just soaking in the beauty and peacefulness of this resort. We take our time and get back into the car and start driving some more to head toward Sarteneja. While driving at some point the dirt road turns into a new paved road. There are menonite children out alongside the road in the middle of nowhere. It’s nothing but forest out here. Where were the homes? Why were there children on the road? I later found out we were really close to Little Belize, a Mennonite community.
We drive for a little while again with no sign of Sartenja in site. When the road changes back to dirt we make a decision we need to head back as we also wanted to take a quick drive to Consejo. We head back and enjoy the drive. Well at least until the skies open up and start pouring right after getting the ferry across the river. I have been in rain storms before, however this one was crazy. It felt like there was rain coming from every angle. It was crazy. In front of us had been a truck with a group of people in the back. They had to pull over and the people had to run for cover from the rain. There was so much and it happened so fast. Just as quick as it started it has stopped. However the mud is now very slippery.
We stop at One Mall and for the first time I have found Gluten free Seltzers. I am so happy about this and its soursop flavour. Raymond picks up some beer and we pick up a few snacks. We now head towards Consejo. With me eating my ice cream and watching google maps we stop for a few minutes just outside of a gated community called Oasis.
We drive a short distance and end up at another development called Consejo Landings. It is here our day changes and we end up in a meeting with one of the developers hearing all about the process of purchasing and an abundance of information I had never thought about until they brought it to our attention.
