Here is a list of the Restaurants in Cayo Belize that we visited while staying in San Ignacio. There are so many wonderful places here. When we go back we hope to try more places.

Sunlight Restaurant

  • The first Restaurant we visited when we arrived in San Ignacio. It was delicious Chinese food and extremely affordable. We ended up ordering a chicken fried rice for myself and a chicken chow mein for Raymond. I ended up taking some of mine to the airbnb and Raymond ate all of it stating it was one of the best Chinese food meals he has had in a long time.

Amy’s Diner

  • Our Real Estate agent brought us here on our day out. We both had rice and beans with stewed chicken. It was delicious and came accompanied with fried plantain, pasta salad, and some sort of vegetable medley. While there was a lot of food I ate almost everything.

Recinos Wine house

  • While we did not eat here we did stop in and pick up a couple bottles of wine. They were booked when we got there so we did not try anything from the menu. The staff were really friendly and we plan to drop back here when we come back next year.

D’vine Cravings

  • One of the items on my food list was to try Conch Ceviche provided it was in season when we got there. We did get it at this restaurant as well as a lobster ceviche as well. This is a walk up hut where you can get freshly made ceviche. We took this back to where we were staying, we took it outside and ate on the balcony. I can now say I really do like conch. It was delicious.

The San Ignacio Hotel

  • After visiting the Iguana Conservation site we decided to get breakfast here before heading down the hummingbird highway. We both ordered the Belizean breakfast off the menu and being celiac they brought me out fresh corn tortilla instead of the fry jacks that came with Raymonds. We had 2 fried eggs, refried beans, gouda, I had ham and Raymond had sausage. I absolutely loved the refried beans.

Lamani

  • We arrived at Lamani and I ordered a pineapple margarita and Raymond ordered an Espresso Macchiato. While waiting for our drinks I bought a bunch of different chocolates. We also ordered a Tamale, another food ticked off my food list. After such a large breakfast I did not eat much but what I did eat I did enjoy it.

Wine Smith

  • Although we never ate here we did have 2 enjoyable nights trying the different wines they had to offer. If you ever drop in here, certainly try the Grenache Blanc and the Zinfandel. They were so good and I cannot wait to go back for more.

The Market

  • The one thing I wanted to do most was to go to the Saturday Market and order Salbutes for breakfast and we did just that. I ordered four delicious salbutes and sat with a lovely woman who invited us to sit with her. Raymond ordered 2 breakfast burritos and loved them. One thing I did finally try here was the onion and pepper mix that they have at the table most places. I’m not a huge fan of spicy foods but Belize was changing my mind.

Crave

  • After walking around the market and the downtown area we stopped at crave primarily for a couple of drinks, however the bartender recommended we try an appetizer there so we ordered the hummus board. Oh my God this was amazing. I still crave the hummus and the vegetable mixture that came with it. Being Celiac I let Raymond eat all the sausage though.  I had a gin and tonic and Margarita. They were delicious and refreshing. Raymond stuck with the local beer Belikin.

Guava Limb

  • We went there the same day as The Market and Crave.  I ordered nachos and some mojitos. Raymond ordered a personal pizza and a long island iced tea. We also had to try the flourless chocolate cake. I was so happy to see something gluten free available. It was here that I tried the Marie Sharp’s hot sauce. Now a staple in our home absolutely the best hot sauce I have ever had.
