We arrived at Ev’s Place San Ignacio just as the sun was starting to go down. Spending most of the afternoon driving to our first Airbnb. We were first met by the caretakers and spoke briefly about what was in the area and they gave us our keys. Ev’s place is a set of Apartments for rent. We had one with an entrance at the back of the building.
To access the property you must first unlock the front gate. Walking down some concrete stairs you come out to the backyard. It was not a large backyard there was a view of part of the city. Lined with flowers around the property. The garden was well taken care of and even had a clothesline set up to hang your laundry. There is a back deck with a couple of chairs set up and a hammock to lay in. The first thing I noticed was that everything was very clean and bright.
You walk into a small kitchen and living space combined. The kitchen had a stove, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pot, and some cookware. There is a small sofa and Tv along with a dining table to eat at. There was a sense of home here with it being very cozy. The walls are a warm cream-yellow color all throughout the apartment making it very welcoming.
There are 2 bedrooms on the left as you walk down the hall. Both are the same in size and have an area to put your belongings. Dad decided to claim his room first and ended up with a little roommate in the form of a baby gecko. We made jokes the whole stay that he was going to come down and nap with dad. Right at the end of the hall is a laundry area with a washer and to the left of that is a small bathroom with a stand-up shower. This little apartment had everything we needed to start our 3 week’s journey.
We stayed in this place for 4 nights. The first night there we walked to Helens and picked up some groceries and beverages to drink. I was so happy to be back. The walk to Helens may have been a 5 minute walk. The second night we had planned to walk somewhere to get food but we had some thundershowers happen so we opted to sit on the covered balcony and listen to the rain. You can walk to the Market and the downtown area from here. It is roughly a 20 minute walk which isn’t too bad in the morning. We grabbed a cab on the way back which cost us $10 Belizean. I should add as well there are plenty of places to eat in this area.
Ev’s place was a very nice Airbnb and I would recommend staying here. There is no pool however just up the street is the Rolson hotel and they have a pool that people can use for a small fee. It was a very comfortable stay.
