Corozal Town Belize

Belize, traveling, sunny day, road trip

When we left the Belize zoo we headed down the highway to branch off and get on the Northern highway and head to our next destination Corozal Town. We had roughly a two hour drive ahead of us. The first thing I noticed is the landscape changes almost instantly as you get onto this Highway. There are cane sugar fields for days.  I found myself relaxed to the point I almost fell asleep several times. Forcing myself to wake up as I had to help with the navigation with the turns and roundabouts. There were tiny villages on the way which were very interesting to look at to break up the sugar cane.

We drove past the turn off to go to Lamani Ruins and continued into Orange Walk we chose to drive through the town as we were not in a hurry to get to our location as we had seen and received an update from the person renting us the next airbnb that the power would be gone until roughly 3pm that day.

We arrived in Corozal to see the beautiful turquoise ocean. First thing I noticed was that there were no beaches, just ocean for days. The second thing I noticed everyone was out in the water trying to cool off and make the best of a day without power. We drove for a little while to look for our airbnb and when we found it we decided to go park by the water for a little while and get out and stretch our legs.  The fresh air was lovely. The breeze from the ocean was even better.

I didn’t get the same feeling here as I did in Cayo. It wasn’t a bad feeling but this to me looked like a place I would come visit but who knows? First impressions usually change.  After Stretching our legs we got back into the car and headed back to see if we could get the key for our apartment for the next couple of days. We did not meet the person renting the place right away as he was out with some friends enjoying the beautiful day. However we did get the key from a family member and went in to settle for a bit. We unpacked our things and looked around. Went out onto the enclosed  porch and sat for a little bit watching the people pass by as well as the people out swimming.  This was a nice area and the view was lovely.

I did have my guard up here a little though.

We checked out Google maps to see where a restaurant could be to get some food. There were a lot but it seemed like they all closed quite early so we decided to leave the car parked and go look for food.

We walked to a little place called Lucky Angel.  The music was kind of loud in the area but it wasn’t to the point where you could not talk. We got a table around the pool tables and ordered our food.  I ordered nachos and Raymond ordered a burger and fries. We ordered some drinks and settled in for a relaxing dinner. We both had several drinks with our meals and took our time. Raymond asked the waitress for somehow sauce and instead of the hot sauce she brought him back a habanero pepper. He ate it as well, I laughed at the fact that he popped it in his mouth and ate it. Once we were done we ordered a couple bottles of water and walked back to our apartment for the night.

Belize, Lucky Angel,

First impressions.

Loved being by the ocean

There were a lot of people around

It was a little loud

It seemed hotter here then in Cayo

You could smell the ocean in the air

I felt like a tourist…
