This is how we ended up having an impromptu meeting at Consejo Landings Belize. With a quick stop into One Mall for beverages and an ice cream, We decided to head to Consejo to see that area. Driving around we see some new developments going up. We passed by a place called Consejo Landings and decided to turn around and go back and take a quick drive through to see the area as it was right by the ocean and looked very pleasing to the eye.
The scenery is breathtaking. The plots of land are all cleared. Electrical is on site as well. There is a lake in the middle of the community. The view of the ocean is what attracts me to this place. A man starts to wave us down to stop. This is one of the developers who lives on site and he is about to have an information session with another couple and asks if we would like to join them. We quickly agree as we feel this would help us in deciding if Belize was right for us.
We get out of the Vehicle and introduce ourselves and he informs us he is one of the developers Martin for Consejo landings. He invites us into his home where he has an area set up to go over lot pricing etc.
First thing we notice is the beautiful locally made furniture and art pieces. Belize truly has some amazing things to look at. Martin jokingly gets Raymond to try and lift the table and it was not budging. The furniture was made from Poison wood. He showed us the rest of the house. I was in awe of the whole place. High ceilings, open concept, beautiful enclosed back area with lots of screened windows. I loved this house. We really liked the area as well. I just found it hard picturing myself living there as I had ideas in my head and this area seemed a little less rugged then I had been thinking.
We sat down for the information session and boy was it information overload. He went into lots and pricing. Talked about Belizean health care. Discussed Belizean home taxes. Went over contractors and supply issues. Gave us examples of things people tend to run into. Went over how they order food to come right to the community. My head was at information overload.
While the information kept flowing so did the rain outside it was pouring out. You could hear and see it coming down outside. Once the information session was over Martin took us around the development looking at lots of land. This area was beautiful however we knew it was not home. The lots were very reasonably priced obviously the ones overlooking the ocean were more expensive then the ones near the lake.
I just want to say Martin and his wife were extremely welcoming and a pleasure to talk to. If they ever read this I would like to say thank you for all the information. Even though we did not choose this area you made the decision a little more difficult as I did start thinking about this area as a future home. We just want to live a little more off the beaten path. More on that to come.
