In no particular order here are my 5 things to do while in Belize
- Zipline over the Jungle Canopy While in Belize this year we did something so out of character for both of us we went to Calico Jacks and ziplined through the jungle. It may be one of my favorite things I have ever done in all my life.
- River fishing With Dad coming with us this year we wanted to plan some things that would interest my Dad and Amelia. We booked a river fishing tour through Lamani Eco Tours and it did not disappoint we got to spend the day on the water and even got to see turtles and a crocodile in the wild.
- Visited Mayan Temples One of my favorite things about Belize is the history and how beautiful the country is. There is something about the Mayan Temples that makes me want to stay there exploring all day.
- Community Baboon Sanctuary While headed North to Orchid Bay we took a detour and went to the community baboon sanctuary. We met Robert, who would hopefully guide our hike to see some Howler monkeys. Lucky us as he was our guide. You are not guaranteed to see the Howler monkeys however we were lucky and got to get up close to them. A fantastic experience that I will talk about for a very long time
- The Belize Zoo is One of my favorite places to go. We have done the Jaguar experience twice. Once with Lindo and the second with Sylvia. I am glad we got to meet Sylvia she was such a beautiful cat. We were sad to hear that she had passed away recently. I could spend a whole day here just going through the zoo and seeing all the animals. It really gives you a sense of the types of animals living in the wild in Belize.
Some other mentions we recommend are The Iguana Conservation Project, The Belize Botanical Gardens, Green Hills Butterfly Farm, Marie Sharps Hot Sauce Tour, Cave canoeing, River rafting, The inland Blue Hole, and Take a Day Drive down Hummingbird Highway. Spend time near the beaches, They have Blue Hole tours, Snorkeling, Diving, and so much more to offer as well. Whether you want to find something adventurous or something a little laid back you will find it all in Belize.
